![]() ![]() Here it was recognise by windows immediately as an unknown device (because flash was corrupted), so I was able to use the boot loader method, reflash the firmware, and after this it worked fine on my desktop too! After this nothing was working, really nothing, no Windows detection, no led, nothing, until I decide to use the laptop instead of my desktop. It worked once at the beginning, I started to update the firmware, and it get stuck during the process. Ok, here some hope: I had the exact same issue with the T500RS, not with the TH8 RS. Very sad for you, I read how you was happy to get this. I was so itching to get to drive manual cars again with a proper H shifter but faith as it seems has other plans. One post from some forum by someone, said that they lose the device as soon as they try to update the firmware and the way they get it back is to return to the old firmware by using the "bootloader method" which in my case doesnt help.Ībsolutely awesome piece of gear, if only it would work. Also I believe they have newer version of the main PCB v2 I believe they call it, so hopefully I get that one incase this didnt have it already.Īnybody else had this same type of issue? DOA or otherwise lose the device from control panel so that it cant be regocniced anymore by windows? I send them a reply that I'd rather take the new PCB, saves me the hassle to send this one back and also place I bought this one from doesnt have these anymore th8rs on the self so I would be in a long wait to get a replacement. 2) they can send me a new main PCB (printed circuit board) and directions how to change it. I send an email to Thrustmaster and they said that my assessment is correct and I have two options.ġ) send it back and get a new one from the vendor. Symptoms were quite clear, couldnt install the plug'n'play drivers, couldnt update firmware, device didnt show in control panel nor its own software with manually installed drivers. Go in game and map the TH8A as your handbrake.Got my shifter in the mail yesterday, spended about 3 hours wrestling with it and came to the conclusion that its internal memory is dead and so it cant send nor receive data from. Currently, WRC 5 does not accept an axis or analog control in the handbrake position, but Dirt Rally does.Ī.Test the shifter out and you’ll see the axis bar moving.Once in the shifter properties, you’ll check the box to switch the shifter to analog mode.Next thing you’ll need to do is change it to the analog mode in the driver or Thrustmaster profile. This won’t work using the sequential shifter plate. You’ll need to put it so 1st and 2nd gear is up top so that you move the shifter down through the neutral position towards 7th and reverse. While waiting for the driver to download and install, you can move the shifter plate so the neutral position is up and down versus side to side.I also noticed there’s an updated version of the firmware and I applied that as well. It won’t work unless you have the driver loaded. Download the driver for the shifter at the Thrustmasters site.Keep in mind that this will only work on PC systems and will not work on the gaming consoles. Besides being useful in rally games, the drift fans might want to use the same trick for some added fun on the virtual drift tracks. While there are a few nice sim racing handbrake products on the market such as the Fanatec Clubsport Handbrake, or DSD Hydraulic Handbrake, there is also the possibility to use a Thrustmaster shifter to perform the task.ĭarin Gangi from Inside Sim Racing shows you how to use the Thrustmaster TH8A or TH8RS shifter unit as an analog handbrake. With the growing popularity of the recently released rally games such as Dirt Rally by Codemasters and WRC5 by Kylotonn Racing Games, many of the fans have been on the lookout for some dedicated handbrake hardware. ![]() How to use the Thrustmaster TH8A or TH8RS Shifter as Analog Handbrakes (ISR)
